Our favourite restaurants for roti and curry dishes. If you're looking for Buss Up Shut (Paratha), check out our picks here!
Carol's
Locations: Warners, Christ Church
One of the best places on the island for an authentic Trinidadian Buss Up Shut. There's really not much more we can say that. It's a regular spot for us and our friends.
It's especially great because they offer Buss Up Shut three (3) — three! — times a week!
During the week, a roti is a great lunchtime pick-me-up and sets you up for a great afternoon.
Located near the South Coast, a perfect Saturday afternoon is picking up roti from Carol's and heading to the beach for a good lime.
Chutney's Roti & Curry Cuisine
Locations: Hastings, Christ Church; Coverley Village, Christ Church; Wildey, St. Michael; Redman's Village, St. Michael
Chutney's provides a good roti. It's not the best, nor is it the worst. It's a decent, satisfying option.
You can't go wrong with their Dhal Puri roti. However, the Paratha is not served as Buss Up Shut; if you're looking for that, you won't find it here. (If you are looking for Buss Up Shut, we've got you)
True to their name, they do offer a variety of chutneys with their rotis.
The best part about Chutney's is their central locations in St. Michael and Christ Church. If you're out and about conducting business, running errands or tourist-ing, there's a probably a Chutney's nearby!
Indian Grill
Locations: Bayside Plaza, Bay Street, St. Michael
Located on the outskirts of town and next to the beautiful Carlisle Bay, the Indian Grill is popular place for getting a lunch time roti and having lunch by the sea to get away from the bustle of the work day.
Karibu Bar and Restaurant
Locations: Payne's Bay, St. James
One of the best places to get Buss Up Shut. Take note: It's only available on Saturdays!
Lisa's Doubles and Roti
Locations: Worthing, Christ Church; Kendall Hill, Christ Church
If you're looking for good, quick, chicken or vegetable roti, satisfyingly sized, at a great price of $9.00, visit Lisa's.
Unlike some of the other roti spots, Lisa's does not have as much variety. However, what Lisa's offers is doing one thing and one thing well.
With their locations so close to the South Coast beaches, they're a great stop on your way to beach. Few things can beat the beach, roti and a rum.
